Help surf fishing (Northeast / Mid-Atlantic)?

Ive been saltwater fishing for many years especially in party boats and by chance in Bay but I never really captured the surf. I'm constantly hearing about everyone breaking the blues catch 30 in an hour or 20-catch of sea bass schoolie striped.
